How’s this for a period of musical productivity?
David Bowie releases Hunky Dory in 1971. That album features “Changes,” “Life on Mars?” and “Queen Bitch,” three of his best selling singles.
In 1972, Bowie releases today’s album, a concept record: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. It features the singles “Starman,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide,” and “Suffragette City” – not to mention “Moonage Daydream” and the title track “Ziggy Stardust.”
Then, in 1973, Bowie releases his most memorable character via Aladdin Sane, which featured lead single “The Jean Genie.”
