Day 259 – #169. The Hives – Veni Vidi Vicious

The Hives - Veni Vidi Vicious Album Review

Current mood: suffering from severe Hives fatigue due to this project.

Symptoms include: sincere lack of desire to jam Veni Vidi Vicious (even though it was a favorite back in the day); shortage of kind words about songs like “Find Another Girl”;  strong urge to find GIFs (read as: ‘jiffs’) to replace actual words.

Remedies: Fela Kuti.

From Veni Vidi Vicious, this is “Outsmarted” –

Standout tracks: “Declare Guerre Nucleaire” and “Introduce the Metric System in Time”
Weakest track: “Find Another Girl” is out of place here. That solo on “Main Offender” is a jammer but hard to stomach after Almqvist’s squealing “Why me?” No.

Sorry: Sorta, I guess.

RIYL: Garage rock, furious but clean punk-rock influenced
