Day 152 – #193. Justice – † (Cross)

Justice - Cross Album Review

I don’t recall exactly how I came across this band, but I rue (it’s a French pun, don’t worry about it) the fact that it was not earlier, in spite of the fact that I’m not usually into this type of music.

Justice is a French DJ duo, made up of good looking fellows Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Auge.  (Cross) is their incredible debut album.

This is the exact type of music to listen to when any of the following is happening to, for, or about you:

-Drinking 6 beers at home alone, but only 6 because that is how many you bought
-Getting ready to go to an event where you are meeting people as the third wheel
-Finding out things you did not want to find out about a recently separated significant other
-When it’s pouring outside and you can’t leave yet so you write on this thing
-When you have big plans and nothing else seems to come together

-When you like other types of dance music, or like music with some serious overdubbing
-You ever been to that hipster club in that city where you live? That.
-Do you know what pornaoke is, and enjoy it? That.
-Do you like to zone out and forget that dance music is playing in the background but you kind of just wanted something playing in the background? That.

From (Cross), this is “Genesis” –

Standout tracks: “DVNO” and “Stress” and “Waters of Nazareth”
Weakest track: Enjoyable throughout.

RIYL: Dance, electro, dance punk, electro punk, etc. Think DJ Shadow if he were  actually two people, and those two people were French DJs but they were nothing like DJ Shadow at all. Maybe that’s a bad example. Sebastian, Daft Punk, Major Lazer, yanno.
